Mark was Chair and Chief Assessor for BKH, Business Kapiti Horowhenua Inc, a regional Business Awards group. BKH runs the Electra Business and Innovation Awards, and the Kapiti and Horowhenua Business Halls of Fame. During his tenure he brought the rigour of the international Business Excellence (Baldridge) Criteria cut down and customised for local SMEs in NZ. In recognition and appreciation of his contribution to this and to local business development, BKH awarded the first ever Life Membership to Mark Ternent.
