Medical centre IT stress reduced

CASE STUDY - October 19th, 2022

What was the issue?

Raumati Road Surgery is a well-established part of the Kāpiti community, providing GP and related services: 

  • The practice had IT support from an IT company specialising in medical centres; however, the relationship was not working as well as desired, and there was no agreement/partnership, or proactive services. 

  • The practice was also having issues related to the setup of their Microsoft 365. 

  • Much of the practice IT was coming up for replacement – notably the servers, workstation computers, and a decision around the PMS (practice management system).

What needed to happen?

  • To find an IT company to assist with the 365 issues, as a matter of some urgency. 

  • To also deal with IT replacement, and ideally find an IT company with specialist medical expertise to become their ongoing IT provider.

 Action steps:

  • The practice contacted Microsoft with their 365 issues/desires, and were referred to GTB (a Microsoft Partner) by Microsoft.

  • GTB also had the benefit of being locally Kāpiti based, and having specialist medical centre expertise (including being MedTech Certified Engineers).

  • GTB sorted the 365 issues, and then quoted successfully for work to replace the practice computers and some other equipment, and to supply printers. 

  • Following that, the practice become a client of GTB’s with a ‘SureIT Full’ managed service agreement. The server was replaced, and the practice migrated to MedTech Evolution. 

  • The practice and GTB built a very good working relationship. The IT environment was updated and functioning well, and these things were already in place when Covid-19 struck.

Result:

  • There were a great many challenges for the practice caused by Covid, yet having their IT systems in good condition and functioning well for the team, meant that IT was not a headache as well. It also allowed the practice to put more focus on Covid response, and on looking after their own team. 

  • In general, the practice feels that they are very well looked after by GTB, and that their team is supported. This is a big relief and has been especially welcome over the last two years.
